Our
Social Services Department currently serves over 18,000 clients per year. We provide a comprehensive spectrum of social services to the area’s underserved populations, including:
- Emergency aid/crisis intervention
- Benefits and entitlements assistance such as: Food Stamps, Medicaid, Medicare, Public Assistance, S.S.I., Soc. Sec. Disability, SCRIE and WIC. Please note that throughout winter months we take HEAP applications in our Main Office by appointment only.
- Case management services
- Housing Advocacy & Assistance including Section 8, SCRIE, DRIE & FEPS
- Immigrant services
- Refugee resettlement
- Civics and ESL for those interested in learning English and becoming naturalized.
- Access to 3 food pantries in Midwood, food vouchers
- Distribution of Holiday food packages [Passover time]
- Medical referrals
- Legal Assistance Services
- Client Representation and Advocacy. We accompany clients to Food Stamps, Medicaid and other public benefits offices. Our Legal Assistance staff can provide assistance with Fair Hearings.
We offer all support assistance for the disadvantaged, seniors, single-parent families, unemployed, underemployed, displaced workers, immigrant populations, youth-at-risk, the homebound elderly and the handicapped, and anyone else in need.
